This famous gay beach wasn’t the first spot where gay visitors congregated in the neighborhood. Carpenter Beach, across a tiny dune and up towards Dewey Beach, is regarded by historians as the first homosexual beach in the Rehoboth area.
In addition, the beach at the south end of the Rehoboth boardwalk, dubbed “Poodle Beach” by locals, is noted for being gay-friendly and clothing-optional.
Dogs are only allowed on the beach before 9:30 a.m. and after 5:30 p.m. from May 15 to September 15. The lifeguards don’t enforce this until their chairs are on the beach, which is between 10 and 5 p.m. Dogs can be off-leash during the off-season, but they must be under your control and cleaned up after.
To enter a bar in Delaware, you must be at least 21 years old. Within the municipal limits, no drinking or open containers of alcoholic beverages are permitted on the beach, boardwalk, or public roadways.
